I am new
« on: November 23, 2025, 02:57:33 AM »

65. Post menopausal. My pain has gotten so bad have appt in early December to discuss vaginal HRT. I have a seizure take lamotrigine ER 100mg daily. Have stayed away from this but this has become huge quality of life issue and is causing a stress response in and of itself. Any comments appreciated. Also what about adding hyaluronic acid suppositories? I use coconut oil now. I have also pelvic floor dysfunction IBS

Morning.  A few of these symptoms mayB caused by lowering levels of oestrogen, the bodies elasticity.

It won't hurt to try vaginal atrophy symptoms  the idea being to use the 'vagifem' or 'estriol' every night for 2-3 weeks then as necessary to relieve the feelings of the need2 P etc.. Some ladies require nightly use, others manage depending on how they feel.

Coconut oil can aggravate symptoms internally, fine on the outer vulval/labia.

Might I suggest that if U haven't done so already that you seek advice from a physio interested in female health?

If I were in such discomfort I would just go into boots and buy some, or get it online, rather than waiting until next month to see a GP.

Vaginal estrogen has been available to buy for some time now, and I know you shouldn't have to pay for it but on the other hand you could have requested it on the NHS years ago rather than waiting until things got this bad.

It may even be worth putting in a prescription request for vaginal estrogen to your GP practice in the interim, many offer electronic communication and they may be willing to issue the prescription without waiting for a face to face appointment.

Additionally, is there a reason for only wanting to treat your vagina rather than your whole body?

Whilst not everyone chooses to use systemic hormone therapy, this should always be an informed decision and not just the default due to lack of knowledge or access.

Thank you all. I want to remain seizure free. I have been since craniotomy may 2014 to remove abcess left temporal lobe. Oral HRT raises the level of estrogen in the bloodstream more than vaginal HRT. My doctor requested I make an appt to be seem. I did communicate with her electronically. My neurologist said OK to the vaginal estrogen.  What does using coconut oil inside the vaginal canal do? I do use it that way. It helps with the pain

If U have had the OK from the Neurologist for VA treatment then mayB ring your Surgery and ask for a script to be left for you.
