Knee arthroscopy
« on: November 08, 2025, 09:31:51 AM »

Morning ladies . Has any of you had experience of a knee arthroscopy ?
I had one 11 days ago …they did a partial meniscus repair but I’m still in quite a bit of pain and experiencing stiffness and still limping . Hoping this is normal . Not seeing surgeon for another 8 weeks !  Would love to hear your experiences …. Thank you x

It can take a while to recover - R U able to describe the pain, do U require pain relief?

I would expect U to be on elbow crutches at this stage, partial weight bearing.  R U elevating the limb above the hip whilst sitting and during sleep to avoid any swelling? 8 weeks is a long time to wait for a review, mayB ask a physiotherapist if these symptoms are 'normal' at this stage.

Were U advised to do quadriceps exercises, this again a physio. could advise upon.

Nope but have watched a few as an orthopaedic secretary.

What advice did the Surgeon give you post op?

Is there swelling around the op site?

My mother had that done a number of years ago, although not the meniscus repair so that could make a difference. She wasn't particularly active, and I don't recall her having any exercises to do, but I think she was able to move around within a few days.

Thank you getting_old . Yes I think it probably does depend on what repairs they do … if any . Have booked to see gp to get looked at because I think 8 weeks it’s quite a bit away . Just need to know that what I’m experiencing is normal xxx

Let us know?  Hopefully he will suggest seeing a physiotherapist for advice on exercise.
