Endometrial biopsy results
« on: October 31, 2025, 10:03:25 AM »

Hi everyone

I had some post meno bleeding a couple of months ago and had a biopsy done.

They have called me from the hospital to attend a face to face appointment a week today as they discovered some growth cells. I have also had period type pains and cramping.

Does the fact that they want to see me face to face mean it is going to be bad news? They originally requested a telephone appointment but changed it to face to face.

I am worrying now that something is wrong.

We would all worry!  Take some1 with you as well as a list of queries and symptoms.  Sometimes follow up is required depending on the results.  Could it B that the cramping is due to the biopsy procedure?

Hi emjane,

It could mean they just need to talk to you about further treatment in the respect that you mention growth cells which could indicate endometrial hyperplasia where the lining has got thicker due to an overgrowth of cells - hyperplasia without atypia -  normal cell overgrowth which they will then need to treat to prevent the endometrial lining getting thicker or atypical hyperplasia where the cells are looking different and more abnormal and potentially has a higher risk of turning into cancer without treatment. If this is what is going on then it would make sense they want to speak with you face to face to investigate and discuss further treatment.  Did you have a TVS scan or ultrasound when you initially had the biopsy?  Natural of course to worry but it sounds like you acted quickly with the pmb you had so you are on the right path and in the system to rule anything out and get treated quickly if it is needed.  x

It doesn't necessarily mean anything sinister, just that it may be something that requires further investigation or treatment.

Hi everyone thank you so much for your replies.

I had a TVR scan first. And there was a thickening of the lining. So they then did the biopsy.

I had some pain and cramping for a couple of days which went away. But this week I have had period type pains. I will mention it when I go next week.

I did ask on the phone if it was anything to worry about and the lady said they would’ve seen me sooner if it was and is probably just to discuss treatment. Like you say at least I’ve acted quickly and whatever it is can be nipped in the bud x
