Anxiety
« on: October 22, 2025, 05:08:50 AM »

Can I just ask as I know so many other of us are suffering badly with anxiety, what symptoms do you get.

Just interested to see if the symptoms differ for each individual.  My GP said last week it’s JUST your anxiety like it is nothing. !

On edge all the time
Jittery
Crying non stop
Feeling like I will faint
Palpitations
Legs Like jelly
Can’t stand heat anymore need all the windows open
To scared to have a bath
Angry
No energy
Lost interest in everything
Eyes go blurry
Fear of something bad will happen
Depressed and do unhappy
Don’t want people in the house
Scared to go out
Talking to someone and forget their name
I then go into a panic about this as I feel I am going crazy

The list goes on

It’s not about the symptoms, it’s about the cause. The GP is stating it’s from over worrying but you would have to be in full on panicked thoughts for some of those symptoms. Much more likely adrenaline surges from hormones crashing about.

The GP is fobbing you off, probably as an ‘anxious woman’. I was told by a GP and A&E doctor to calm down, go home and have a nice cup of tea.

The first time I believed them but no amount of calmness or PG Tips changed my state. I am a psychotherapist and can state that you cannot talk down hormonal
anxiety. You can stop it getting worse from stopping yourself adding a layer of worry on top of it but that does not shift the chemicals from doing their thing.

Have you felt any improvement since the Diazepam is completely out of your system, as that was likely adding withdrawal anxiety on top?

Hi Dangermouse

I think the panic side of things are not so bad since stopping the Valium .

But the anxiety has got no better

I have an eye test booked in on Monday at home and I really do want my eyes tested but I am already getting in a state about it and it’s only Wednesday I am so worried I won’t be able to sit long enough to have it done as I am so on edge and jittery.  It would be then that I would take a Valium to help me through it
But really don’t want to do that now that I have been off them for a few weeks.

I know my GP said if and when needed.

I just feel so Angry and annoyed  with my self that I can’t do something so simple.

That sounds like more than just anxiety. I get anxiety but it's tending to be triggered by health matters which in turn  affects my confidence in other things. Your GP should be offering you a service of support not dismissing it. My GP surgery has specialist practitioners for such things. There's a world out there to enjoy. Can you see a different GP?

Honestly if I were you I would try the HRT or anti depressants. I have been anxious manyyy times in my life and it gets to the point where I cannot do it on my own. This is not your fault, its your body and mind responding to a trigger whether that be hormones or life stress. I get it, Im great at advising but so beat myself up when Im anxious. I absolutely promise you there is a way out of this but you will probably need help. Life is too short to feel this way.
