Knee pains return
« on: October 08, 2025, 02:50:15 PM »

I am 67 - I have been on Evorel 25 patches and Utrogestan 100mg orally for 2 years and separately, Mirtazapine 30mg.  I have found diarrhoea problems constantly to the point I can't leave the house without loperamide in case of accidents.  Now my GP has given me Evorel Conti patches - I'm 6 weeks into them.  While the diarrhoea is lessening - my problem now is that my arthritic knees are just very sore and clicking again.  I used to be able to run up and down the stairs - not now.  Also my mood and motivation has dipped a lot.  My GP said give the Evorel Conti patches a try, and if they don't work, said he could offer Utrogestan vaginal pessaries - although he cannot guarantee that they will protect the womb lining as well as the patches.  So I guess I'm just asking if the vaginal pessaries will be just as awful for diarrhoea?  Thanks for any help.

Do you think it is the utrogestan which is giving you the diarrhoea? It can be a problem for some women especially if you have a soya sensitivity. I take it you have had it investigated (not pleasant I know) to rule out any problems? There are members on here who do use it vaginally.

The norethisterone in Evorel can cause low mood but I'm not sure why your knees are painful again as, for me, it's always been oestrogen which helps with my aches and pains and I think Evorel conti is double the 25s you were on?

You will find lots of help and understanding on here.
