If U have the procedure done it gives you a base line from which to work.

As our skeleton doesn't stop growing until mid-20s, I can't understand the worry about 'changes beginning from age 14'  :-\. Certain bones will fuse as we age, i.e. the skull closes after birth .........

It may well be that certain scans are programmed for different conditions, so if  a person has been referred for a skeletal scan, that's what they will get: bones.  I would be ringing an NHS X-ray Dept to find out exactly what the result is likely to show or speak with a physio.

I've had two, one in my knee and I fell asleep, the other was of my brain so my head was in the tube but I closed my eyes before they slid me in so that I wouldn't imagine myself inside. I kept them closed, listened to the music, sang along, thought about my very happy time etc. it was fine. You have to remember you're not in a tube that's closed at either end and think about the air blowing through. It's over with before you know

Thanks - yes it did go better than expected - although the results were a bit scary - moderate right hip osteoarthritis and mild left hip OA 😟
Did you pay for your scan or was it done on the NHS? Were your results better or worse than expected?

Mine was on the NHS.my knee has early osteoarthritis. I'd had fluid under my kneecap which was excruciating. My brain was normal thankfully. "Don't do this at home" but my physio told me that there's one exercise everyone should do for their hips daily. Holding onto something with one hand like you're at a ballet rail, swing the other leg from the hip to and fro 30 times and then do the other side. I did start to do that then like everything else, I forgot. He's retired now but was such a good physio, even my GP used him. Has physio been suggested to you?
