High Blood Pressure

(1/2) > >>

Cassie:
Hi Ladies, I was hoping there are some "experts" on blood pressure. I have always tended to have low blood pressure or very average around 120/80. Lately I have been experiencing a few nose bleeds, but thats not uncommon for me, as I have had allergies and tend to sneeze a lot. My friend suggested it could be raised blood pressure so I did check and was quite shocked to see my blood pressure was 140/75. I checked a few times as I have a home monitor and the last check it was back down to 127/68. Does one BP tend to fluctuate so much during the day. Is this something I should be worried about? I was feeling a bit tense when I took it earlier and it was high but at the lower reading I could feel I was more relaxed. How does one guage the average reading per day if it goes up and down so much and know when meds are indicated. I am active and walk a lot and def not overweight. Maybe this is what happens when one gets into the 60s  :-\

And breath!

BP should be taken at the same time each day.  DH and I were advised B4 eating each morning, the best of 3 readings leaving a few moments apart.  His brother has recently been advised to take readings 3 times a day  :-\ - it appears that he was over medicated!

Heat. Hunger.  Anxiety may all impact on BP levels.  1 cannot be aware of raised BP in the same way as it being low, i.e. sudden light headedness on standing from a sitting position.

Yep age can affect our health.  Some medications can impact too.  If U are taking anything do read the leaflet with each as it may/not indicate whether BP is likely 2 B affected.

I suggest that if you aren't feeling faint then take readings at the same time each day  4 a week then let your GP/Nurse Practitioner know.

Cassie:
Thank you. I just checked it  now and sat quietly in my chair practising deep breathing was right down to 127/68 so think def in my case anxiety related.

CLKD:
Most likely.  My DH is the calmest person that U R likely to meet who gets White Coat Syndrome  ::)

Don't stress.  Taking every day at the same time to check is OK.

ANd yes, BP will fluctuate.

CLKD:
As an aside, how does the ' low' blood pressure affect you?
