How long does HRT take to work

(1/2) > >>

Fussycat2:
I’m in my third week of Evorel sequi and I’m feeling worse I think. It’s the insomnia. My GP said give it 3 months but I’m really stuggling  :'(

sheila99:
Flushes usually go within a couple of weeks but other symptoms take longer. Anxiety and insomnia were my worst symptoms and they took the full 3 months to go completely with little improvement in the first month. You shouldn't be feeling worse though. Might be worth keeping a diary as you may be worse on the conti patches if norethisterone doesn't agree with you.

bombsh3ll:
Evorel sequi contains only 50mcg of estradiol, which is a very low dose, plus a synthetic progestin with a relatively unfavorable side effect profile.

I would suggest estrogen only patches in a dose that fully treats your symptoms, and asking for micronised progesterone instead, which if taken orally can actually help with sleep.

Fussycat2:
I’ve decided to come off the HRT. I feel so depressed and am sure that’s what’s causing it. There’s no way I can ‘give it 3 months’

bombsh3ll:
Hope you soon feel better.

Just so you are aware, there are multiple different types of HRT, so don't feel that you have to put up with untreated menopause symptoms in future because one formulation didn't suit you.
