My HRT is out of stock
(1/1)
Alana:
Some advice please.
I put my HRT prescription into chemist only to be told a week later that Premarin is unavailable and has been for some time.
I asked for an alternative similar to Premarin and was prescribed Estradiol. Have been on them for 2 weeks but find that I am lethargic and feeling anxious. Does anyone know of a better alternative?
Regards
Alana

It is hard to come up with an exact replacement for Premarin because it is equine derived and has a unique blend of estrogens and androgens.
Firstly can you get a different dose of Premarin e.g. if you take 1.2mg could you get 0.625mg and take two etc?
Alternatively you could try estradiol plus transdermal testosterone - make sure your estradiol is an appropriate dose; often when women have to change products the prescriber will try to covertly shrinkflate your dose so that you are not on the equivalent strength that you were taking.
If I were on 1.2mg of Premarin I would want at least 2mg oral estradiol or a 100mcg patch. So it may be a dose issue.
There is also oral Tibolone which is a synthetic compound that also contains estrogenic and androgenic components.

Much appreciated, thankyou

The transdermal hrts are safer than premarin so IMO it would be worth trialling different options to see if you can find a suitable alternative. Lathargy is likely to be low oestrogen, anxiety can be both low and too much but given the lethargy yours is more likely to be low.
