Hysteroscopy

Borchesterlass:
Update :
So I hade the dreaded procedure yesterday . It wasn’t pleasant but  it was bearable . Feeling a bit fragile this morning . Weighing it all up I’m glad I didn’t go down the GA route as they worry me more  than the fear of the hysteroscopy . Consultant thinks all looks okay . Just need to wait for the biopsy results .
All I keep reading on this site is horror stories regarding this procedure . Please has anyone had an okay experience ? I’m booked in June to have one in outpatients with a private consultant because my womb lining had thickened. I’m 69 and have had three children one on breathing techniques only . Need to get my head in the right place . Thank you

Yes I've had one, I had sedation and I think if you're going private, you can ask for extra sedation if needed. Mine felt like a period pain, only lasted a few minutes, I'm sure you'll be fine, blimey if you've had 3 children like that,it will be a walk in the park. Good luck  :)

I had one last year with removal of polyps. I was dreading it, particularly as I've not had children.  I took codeine beforehand as the recommended paracetemol does nothing for me. They also gave me a local anaesthetic injection. They gently dilated my cervix and the whole procedure was quite tolerable. I hope you have a similarily positive experience.

There's a thread on here somewhere of a lady giving her experience as she had no pain (or very little), with other members commenting on their similar experiences. If you do a search you hopefully will find it x

I've had 2....one without a general anaesthetic and one last year with ....I would definitely have  GA again if necessary as the first was extremely painful.
Each lady seems different though so I would never tell anyone what to do ....your choice. Hope it goes well for you  :)
