Certainly I am aware of some specialists using additional estrogen to supplement the combined patch, however this doesn't seem to be what's going on here.
Either you aren't on sufficient estrogen, or there is a tolerability issue with the progestin.
Norethisterone is used in both elleste duet and the combi patch, so this is less likely if you tolerated the tablet form, but not impossible.
Regarding the estrogen, if you take additional estrogen on top of the combined patch without being under a specialist and ideally with endometrial monitoring, you are running the risk of endometrial hyperplasia, as that dose of progestin is not guaranteed to be adequate against the increased estrogen.
My preference would be estrogen only patches titrated to your needs, with appropriately dosed micronised progesterone.
Also don't forget about testosterone - this is often beneficial for symptoms related to mood and motivation.
