heart rate, blood pressure and off the charts anxiety

Paris76:
Hello everyone,

I am a new member. Firstly I would like to thank you all for contributing such brilliant topics I have loved going through and reading everyone's posts.
I am a 47 year old who up until a few years ago was a healthy, vibrant, fit and not anxious person.
I got diagnosed with SVT around 5 years ago. Never had any heart issues before and then suddenly started having random sudden heart rates of 210bpm they would only last a few minutes and then back to normal.

They made me feel horrible at the time but I would push through. Forward October 2023 and I ended up having an ablation done as I was getting them last for longer and they started to affect my life.
Ablation went horribly and the DR informed me that he hit my vegas nerve It took me almost 2 months  to live my life again.

In between all of this I was getting severe night sweats, brain fog to the point I would walk into the supermarket and then forget what I needed.
Periods longer and so painful, burning tongue sensation, sore boobs, tingling legs, bloated, nausea, digestive issues, vertigo, migraines and weirdly freezing cold episodes during the day where nothing can warm me up. I am sure I am ticking a lot of peoples lists with my symptoms.
Not once was peri menopause suggested until October last year when all off a sudden my blood pressure started going really high 180/100
with heart rate going crazy at the same time around the 180-190bpm. i sent smoke or drink eat healthy and am of a really thin build It would happen randomly and for no explained reason.
Ended back up in emergency where thankfully I was assigned an amazing heart specialist who after monitoring me for 4 days and watched the fluctuations occur put it all done to peri menopause. He started me on beta blockers and refereed me to a hormone specialist.

The beta blockers have helped with the heart rate but my blood pressure still hits and hits hard. Due to the ablation surgery that was horrible I am now left with extreme health anxiety so when ever my blood pressure decides to go up my whole side where my heart sits gets extremely tight and feels almost like it is inflamed. I have been on HRT now for 3 months and have noticed it's helping with a lot of the other symptoms but not so much with the heart and blood pressure issue.

I am also starting to see a psychologist next week to see if the symptoms will decline with less anxiety.
I have never been on anti anxiety meds but the Dr feels that is my next step.

My main questions for this brilliant group is

Does anyone else feel like they are dying when their heart rate goes crazy and blood pressure goes high?
Do you get an inflamed feeling around your heart going down into your arm and back?
From these symptoms is your anxiety so high you stop living your life?

And lastly has anyone had this and with time it has got better?

I am a ghost of the person I use to be and i want to be that strong, fit, outgoing person again.

Massive thank you in advance

xxx

Kathleen:
Hello Paris and welcome to the forum.

I have been on this forum a long time and I have learned that the effects of the menopause can be vast and far reaching for some of us.

Earlier in my menopause journey I had heart palpitations which oddly didn't worry me and I never had them checked out, other ladies had similar issues and were told that menopause was the cause. In my case the heart issues did just go away on their own.

I also feel that the menopause has changed me in ways that I don't like. My remaining symptoms are the emotional ones and my self  confidence has been badly affected.

Hopefully other ladies will be along soon to advise you and in the meantime time you are certainly not alone.

Wishing you well.

K.

Hi Paris76. I am currently 38 years old and experiencing everything you are. I am very fit, walk everyday and have always been healthy. This last year has been hell. I have had irregular cycles, body wide twitching, burning mouth, severe hot flashes, really aggressive heart palpitations/racing heart, and high blood pressure. I am currently on beta blockers and see a Cardiologist at the end of the month just to check everything out regarding my heart. All of my blood work has come back remarkable yet I do not feel that way. I do see a hormone specialist/Gynecologist very soon and he seems to think I am very deep in perimenopause. My last blood pressure reading at the doctor was 154/102. At home I sit around 120/90. It’s been a living hell and I would love to feel like myself again. I really do understand d what you are going through. 🙏

CLKD:
Morning tammyleepsw - how long B4 your appt. to discuss HRT?  This is good for the heart and bone health, mayB keeping a mood/food/symptom diary would give you pointers at your appt.?

Which symptom would you like to ease first?  Do U monitor your BP regularly at home?

Peri-menopause can be those years 10 or more when we notice odd symptoms: my periods waxed and waned and after years of excruitiating pain, they became less bloody with little pain. I was advised to eat every 3 hours 24/7 to help with any sudden lack of energy surges = anxiety.

Which betablocaka has been prescribed, I'm on Propranolol 3 times a day.

Hi CLKD. I am waiting for their office to call and confirm my appointment. They said within the next two weeks. My only concern is I suffer from aura migraines that I have had since I was a teenager, but the gynaecologist did say there are different HRT routes I can go in order to stay safe.

I would love the heart racing and palpitations to calm down right now. It really bothers me and is scary. I do check my blood pressure regularly at home as my son has a blood pressure issue so we check it frequently. I am sitting at 124/90 today.

My cycles are a disaster right now. Sometimes very heavy I can’t go far and other times very light. I have been prescribed the same beta blocker as you twice a day right now. I guess I will wait to see what the Cardiologist says on the 25th after I see him.
