Anxiety medication
Michelle46:
I've suffered anxiety for about 10 years. I took sertraline which was ok for a few years then came off. 4 months ago I tried to go back on but the side effects were too bad. I tried venlafaxine a few weeks ago and lasted 6 days! It was horrific. Any recommendations of any that aren't really really bad to get on especially the nausea and increased anxiety. I know this time i have to persevere more.
CLKD:
No need to persevere if side effects are awful. I certainly was unable to. In 1989 it took 6 ADs B4 we found 1 that didn't make me feel very sick.
I have found Bachs Rescue Remedy mouth spray of use, I never wondered whether it would work/not.
Propranolol helped too: initially 80mg 3 times a day then 40mg twice for a few years: followed by 20mg every morning to ease surges.
Yoga. Pilates. Deep breathing, walking ...... 'me' time.
It is important to have an anti-anxiety medication where ever possible. Some ADs might help.
Michelle46:
I've got some propranolol prescribed 40mg ones. I break them in half and have 20mg in the morning because my blood pressure is on the low side. I've also got diazepam for emergencies and when I've been trying to get on sertraline and venlafaxine. I'm doing some research because I would like to try another one. Years ago sertraline worked for me but the 2nd time around I couldn't get pass the side effects.
CLKD:
It will depend on whether the anxiety is constant or comes in waves. I was prescribed Valium 10mg 3 times a day for 3 weeks, with my GP giving me tablets at the start of each week. Dropped down to 5mg twice a day then as necessary. For several years. I would take it the night B4 an Event that I was unable to get out of, knowing that I could take another 5mg the next day. Which I never required.
When do U take the Propranolol? I took 20mg at night to ease the surges, again for several years. Now I have an emergency tablet to take.
Michelle46:
Constant at the minute but that's due to trying different medication to find the correct one. I take 20mg propranolol in the morning. Is it better at night?
