Thick womb lining worries
Recreate23:
I’m 65 and was given a result of 8 mm for my womb lining after having a pelvic scan. My menopause specialist says I will have to be urgently referred to a gynaecologist as it’s over 7 mm. I’m getting really worried now that I may have cancer although the radiologist said my ovaries looked ok. I’ve had to stop taking HRT too so still struggling with poor sleep, headaches, anxiety etc. what a state to be in! Has anyone else been through something similar?
CLKD:
Lots. What did the specialist suggest that you should see a gynae for? I think they like it around 5mmg so it may be that you are going to have a conversation about a D&C type procedure. Make a list of your worries and ask the questions B4 U decide on any treatment. U don't have to agree to anything immediately.
How long have you been on HRT and which regime?

Hi
I had investigations last year as my womb lining was 11mm. I was told by the consultant that I had a naturally thick womb lining as it had been the same for ten years. Biopsy was normal.

Recreate23:
Thank you Nik for telling me about your thickened lining being described as ok - did the gynae say that after you’d had a biopsy? I think mine has thickened due to the mirena coil mainly as it was only 5 mm in March when it was inserted and the biopsy I had a year ago was ok - I’ve been worried because my specialist said I need to have an urgent scan as the last scan I had in May showed the lining was 15 mm 😣
chopsuey:
I was previously on a low progesterone regime, relative to oestrogen. My ultrasound scan came back as 11.7. The hysteroscopy revealed several polyps which were removed and biopsied but found to be benign.
I had a Mirena fitted afterwards to prevent it thickening again. I stayed on my HRT whilst waiting for the procedure, which was done within the two weeks on the 'cancer pathway'. Are you on a high oestrogen regime? Are you having any bleeding?
What action did they take when the lining was 15mm in May or is that the scan you've just had, which has come back at 8mm? I was told polyps can make the lining seem thicker on the scan, than it is in reality.
