Escitalopram

Hi ladies, my OH has been put onto a tablet for his stress anxiety containing Escitalopram.
I have googled that its also an antidepressant. He is complaining of headaches, which I was wondering could be due to just starting the meds. Anyone else on this form of medication?

Yep. 10 mg at night and 5mg at breakfast for several years.

Stress as well as dehydration can cause headaches.

Which dose, how often and when did he begin taking the anti-depressant.

Hiya

About a year after starting HRT .. I needed to go on escitalopram for depression. For me I take 10mg a day at night. I could have gone up to 20 a day but touch wood so far have not needed to.. 10 seems to the trick for me.. For the first few weeks I felt pretty MEH !! lol .. a bit nauseous/ headachey etc.. worked through it and it dissapeared..
The combo of my HRT/escitalopram has made such a difference for me..
Telll him to give it a good chace and not give up right away.. :)

Any news?  I've had to up my dose to 10mg morning and night ...... seems2 B working.

Hey Cassie, yep, headaches are super common early on with escitalopram, especially in the first week or two. It’s just his brain adjusting. Totally been there. Tell him to ride it out if he can, it usually settles. Hydration helps too (honestly, men forget water exists  ;D).

I was blindsided by depression a few months ago so my GP upped my dose from 10 at night, 5 in the morning to an extra 5 each monring, I feel OH SO tired  :-\

How is your OH Cassie?

Hi sadly he stopped taking it, said he couldnt deal with the side effects so we back to square one  :-\

I had several ADs in the 1980s that made me feel really really sick.  Has he spoken to his GP again?
