Advice please
« on: April 04, 2024, 03:55:06 PM »

Hi,new to this forum..apologies as I'm having a little trouble navigating things .  :-\ I posted earlier wondering if ok just to ask some general advice but I've no doubt posted somewhere totally random.
I'm almost 49,been on hrt for a year. Things fine but some weird and wonderful new symptoms happening,I'm wondering if this signals that I need current hrt tweaking( I have review ntx mnth) or if i have infact finally went mad ;D I can't tell the difference anymore. Any help would be most grateful as I don't even know how this hrt journey actually plays out x

Hi penguin,thankyou for responding.

So,I'm currently on evorel 50 patch and utrogestan. The uteogestan is fortnightly. Lately terrible joint pain, both shoulders, one practically wouldn't move, slightly better but still very stiff. After much googling it seems to fit with frozen shoulder which is quite common at this time :-\ fingers ,knees, almost feels like my muscles have and tendons have tightened up. Ringing in one ear, driving me mad! Chills, and potentially a hot flash...didn't know whT was happening, thought I was gonna explode with the heat but no sweating. Teary jittery and ofcourse thinking I'm dying everyday. Sorry to go on,feels good to get off my chest. X

I get sore joints when my estrogen is low, but equally I get very achey on the utrogestan part too. Is it better when you are just on the estrogen?

I think it's better on the utrogestan  ??? I took myself off to out of hours gp,also rib joints burning. She was lovely and out of the blue asked about my cycle, for once I hadn't even considered it was hormones. She said things change and this could be what's happening.  My periods are very heavy and the cramp is off the scale.  I think I just don't know what to expect,I think I've actually been in denial that it's peri, then I remember what my physical age is and say,get a grip woman, this is it! ;D

Sounds to me as if you might benefit from an increase in oestrogen. How much are you on? I've had to increase twice because of returning symptoms as I've produced less of my own.

If you were fine before on that dose, then definitely sounds like some kind of shift or drop in hormones.

Thankyoubso much for listening to me,I've totally lost plot last few months. So 200 utrogestan and a 50 patch.  I sometimes think I'd be better taking the utrogestan daily but I can't because still had period. I wish this was straightforward  >:( and I have to ask...the flushes?? Don't know if that's what I was having but the panic..and the heat..omg,on top of everything else I don't think I can cope with them ;) any suggestions on the ringing ear?

I should probably add,I've now developed a fear of taking medication. If they do up my hrt I probably won't use it because I,ll be thinking something terrible will happen! I've read so many of you wonderful ladies posts and I know its all so similar, but when your in that moment of madness it's soooo hard!  :o

The heat and the panic, particularly waking up, was my sign that I needed hrt. I have never successfully increased but as I get close to withdrawal bleed from utrogredtan and my natural estrogen is at its lowest, then I do get a few days of heat back. Sounds like you may benefit from a little increase actually. I use gel not patches, but I've read on here that ladies cut patches so they can increase or decrease the dose by smaller increments. You may find that a less scary way to do it?

Hi, I've had lots of weird joint pains, toes, feet, fingers, elbows.
In terms of "the journey" it does all seem to evolve, today's weird body problem goes away and then a new weird one comes.
In my experience, the panic subsides, definitely easier than 3-4 years ago.
Not sure about the ear, although all canals are affected as they dry out. I had a persistent nasal lining issue that Sea Buckthorn oil seems to have resolved.
Good luck!

I'm genuinely so grateful to you all. At times I say to myself, stop being so bloody ridiculous but then my peri brain is on high alert! I was given propanalol when this all started a year and a half ago for palpitations.  I used to take with no problem knowing they helped me alot. Now I wait and wait until the anxiety has practically taken over before I use then..totally irrational! ;D it's so nice to talk to you all..don't feel so alone now. My husband wonderful but I feel like I'm getting on his last nerve :'(

When will it end - if U don't accept the advice to try different doses, U will remain in the dark  ::).  I didn't like taking The Pill, such a small tablet but I would look at it for hours B4 swallowing it.  Still here  ::)

As oestrogen levels drop off joints may become lax = aches and pains.  Also the body may become dry: inside and out. Deep in the ears, nostrils, scalp, vagina, vulva, eyes ........

Browse round.

Propranolol should be taken every day to keep anxiety levels at bay.  It is not an 'as necessary' drug.
