We took 5 lots to the auction last night and all sold!  2 items went for more than we expected, those were the ones we thought would come home again 

Going again on Sat with another load of boxes to sell ........ I am beginning to feel liberated already , now if I can pursuade Himself to get rid of that awful coffee set we keep hanging onto and sell those dagging shears we picked up somewhere ...........

Isn't it great CLKD?  We sold an antique dining table and 6 ladder back chairs last year at auction, which were just too big for the room.  The price we got was just OK when you think what a modern set would cost and this is vastly superior quality.

I've been de-cluttering room by room and have also sold loads on Ebay.  I am afraid we are squirrels and we also have lots of hobbies so you "acquire" stuff. I am sitting in the spare room/office which I cleared and cleaned yesterday and it IS quite liberating.

When we moved we knew that if it didn't go in a Mercedes Sprinter Van and the back of our car, it wasn't going with us.  It's amazing how much you hoard, especially in the attic.  We did have to buy some items but flat pack Ikea beds travelled with us, mattresses, heaps of bedding in very useful vacuum down bags, mickywave, electrical and kitchen goods, clothes in vacuum down bags, computer and ..... the list goes on.  When we got to Customs they opened the back of the van and said "Do you have any weapons"? to which we said "No", they saw that the van was stacked floor to ceiling, breathed a heavy sigh and closed the van.  It was just too much of an effort to search......probably looking for illegal immigrants - NO ROOM !!

Enjoy the clearing out - it cleanses the soul and is very therapeautic and anyhow - there's not a lot else you can do in the cold and dreary winter !

I can't get to the auction room today 'cos of the snow  so the boxes will sit for another month    .... add to that 3 more I have sorted stuff into    .. haven't the energy for e-Bay, all that packing and sending is a step too far even for me!

We went to an auction last night and handled a very pretty piece of Faberge which reached nearly £7,000 in the room.  Also bought 2 lovely water colours for £20.00, couldn't frame them for that!  Hubby now wandering round rooms saying 'where can I hang *these*? '

OOOOH! Auctions! I have a message on the whiteboard in the kitchen to contact the auctioneers this week.We're de-cluttering too. I hardly dare go to them tho, I have this uncontrollable finger! Most of my chests of drawers came that way, beautiful solid wood for less than Ikea flatpack!( my grandfather was a cabinet maker, so I reckon I get my love of wood from him) I sometimes wonder cos the Ikea stuff sells for almost as much as new at the auctions whereas the "brown" furniture goes for next to nothing.If I'm watching something on tv I'm generally looking at the furniture in the background!
I registered as a seller on ebay today, might as well try and keep the local post office open and try to make abit instead of buying!

Off to auction on Saturday  - so boxes everywhere 

Have heard this morning of 'cheapcycle', similar idea to freegle but one can ask for money for items

Went to Auction on Sat and only sold 3 Lots out of 10, however someone has come back to us asking about the jewellery we put into the Sale so maybe that will be 4 sold.  Need to sort boxes over the weekend ready for the Sale in a couple of week's time

So can you just turn up to your auction then?

Nope, 'Lots' have to be booked in with the organiser 2 weeks prior the sales so that they can be catalogued; I take the boxes over on the sale morning so that the organisers can put lot numbers on and stand them round the room.  Viewing takes place so that the public can look at the catalogue and mark up what they fancy buying.  Once the auction begins it is great fun, it's surprising what people will bid for: or not.  I have bought several framed pictures this year but have run out of wall space that isn't directly in the sunshine  ......

Cupcake - I didn't make myself clear, as a bidder you are able to view on the day of sale, get a bidding number and watch the Lots go and put your hand up if you are interested.  A seller however needs to book stuff in so that it gets numbered and catalogued.

We had a look-see last night and will return this evening to bid for a couple of bits of jewellery  when I began this thread a year ago it was about decluttering    .......
