Heart rate issues/Tachycardia.
« on: September 04, 2020, 10:29:41 AM »

Hi again,

My GP and I are now in agreement that my tachycardia episodes which started in March are related to peri. I’ve been doing well on Evorel Conti (32 days so far-after sequi regime didn’t suit) but had a blip this week of high resting heart rate and then a tachy episode yesterday. After the tachy episode I noticed breakthrough bleeding and when I checked my calendar, my last tachy episode was 14/08 coincidentally the last time I bled.  She has warned me that I may have to come off HRT completely if the episodes increase in frequency again after settling down. I’m on bisoprolol to keep HR in check.
Does anyone else suffer from this, any Tips?

Thanks!  :)

Hi- yes, I had it and really didn’t like it  :)
Maybe a coincidence but it settled within 24 hours of starting Vitamin B12.  :o
I’d been getting print outs from the BP/pulse machine at the GP surgery to monitor and record it, so I could actually show my GP the result too.
I was just happy it stopped as it was affecting my wanting to do any exercise/walking, such a horrible feeling.
Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Salad,

Thanks for your reply. It is horrible isn’t it?
I’m taking a high Vit B complex along with selenium ACE and Spatone at night and doc has tested the usual suspects- Magnesium/Ferritin/Blood sugar.
Thought perhaps the sequi regime was triggering it so hoping conti makes a difference.
Glad you’re ok now.  :)

Hi there

I was on bisoprolol for 4 years before even thinking it could be anything to do with peri. The doc who prescribed hrt 4 years later was a bit sceptical about the tachy being anything to do with peri, but haven’t needed bisoprolol since starting hrt.

I do get very occasional heart beat episodes, but I can breathe them away and they pass quickly. I hope you are the same- I have no doubt that mine were due to hormones.

Good luck with everything

Hi Sparkler,

Yes my gp thought the 2 weren’t connected either until I showed her the pattern in my episodes.
I’m so glad to hear you no longer need the bisoprolol, the side effects are not pleasant.
Did you settle down on a sequi regime or conti? How long did it take for the episodes to subside to occasional?
Sorry for the questions but I don’t know anyone else with this symptom.
Thanks  :)

Hi there
I am on evorel 50 for the estrogen and 200mg utrogestan 12 days out of 28 for the progestogen part.

It took a few weeks to be honest, but at that time I was only on evorel 25. Like I say I very occasionally (once every few weeks) get the racing and thumping, but it passes very quickly. Hard to know if it’s the hrt or partly just progressing through peri.

Whatever the cause it is a horrible feeling and impossible to ignore. Best of luck to you. How much bisoprolol are you on?

Yes I think not finding an HRT that suits me hasn’t helped. Evorel Conti is the 4th combo I’ve tried. I’ll keep my fingers crossed and like you say, it will likely take a few weeks to settle even on the right combo.
Thanks for your kind words S, all the best to you too!
I was on 3.75mg Bisoprolol but now down to 1.25mg twice a day. X

Hi Evie606, I've just read an article that mentions increased heart rate due to estradiol fluctuations and I thought it could be what's happening to you. It also mentions sensitivity to depression, anxiety, stress and sadness (I had them all on perimenopause!).
