The woodpeckers stole all of the tree creeper nestlings from their nest and fed them live to their own nestlings. It's nature I know but difficult viewing.

What's a tree creeper nestling? Is another bird?

Yes Tree Creepers are a woodland bird. They nest in holes in tree trunks. Greater Spotted Woodpeckers take the nestlings of other species to feed to their own young.

They just eat us out of peanuts and fat balls and woe betide we don't put them out early enough as we hear the pip pip of them waiting in the tree for breakfast. We saw them on the ground worming the other week for the first time ever x

Nature in the raw.  Is it necessary for TV though.

I will have to fill the feeders later, goldfinches all over.   :-*

I found it interesting in that so many people love to see a Greater Spotted Woodpecker in their garden but hate the magpies because they take nestlings and fledglings. Many don't realise that the GSW predates the young of other species. They are very striking birds to look at.

For the first time in the thirty years that I've fed the birds here the sparrows have taken over the sunflower hearts feeder. Lovely to see them making a comeback but the goldfinches are none too happy! Such language from them!

More feeders then Taz  ;D

I suppose woodpeckers are the same genus as the other crows?  Survival of the fittest.
