Has anyone tried Beyond Meat products. I think they are now in Tesco's. Can google and see what they offer.... looks good.

CLKD... I do not know about the use of words to describe the foods, but people relate to words like sausage, burger with cooking times, types of meals, what to serve with etc, so to make up totally new words would confuse people. Maybe?!

Jari, the beyond meat stuff is really nice,a tad expensive but good quality products,I've tried a few of Tesco's own brand new range but both myself and daughter thought they were tasteless.Would you believe the little co-op here in Dunoon do great veggie & vegan ready meals,I never shop there normally but popped in for something and here was all this choice, will try next time we come up here

Great. Thanks for that. I will get some. I have found wholemeal pita bread really nice instead of baps. Hellmans vegan mayo also really good. Their sales have been really high which is great news. Others out there too though. :)

A sausage is a legal description, as is pork pie and milk.  Why not make new words for products, stop using mine!  Be creative why don't you!

Milk can only be produced by mammals regardless of what Companies dress up other products to be.  Coconuts do not make milk ;-). but we buy it to add to curries and I love it  ;D

I think burger, Pattie, sausage etc can stay but make clear to people what is in them eg dead cow burger, dead pig sausage, plant based Pattie, etc etc.. then at least people know what they?re eating. ;)

When did you last shop for real food ?  Most meat products are clearly marked especially when purchased from a butchers' shop.  You are missing my point  >:(

I think it is just a shape thing tbh, I mean you get sausages, say pork but you also get square sausage(called Lorne in Scotland)but it's still got the same ingredients ,same as burgers, then you get meatballs, same ingredients different shape,I mean, why bother?you do get veggie pork pies but they?re called porkless pies  :o

A sausage has to have no less than 85% meat! you can dress it up as much as you want.

We bought some sausages recently and felt quite ill after  :-\ - 4 me they tasted too greasy and DH had extra wind  :o  :-X.  So I won't eating those again.  DH makes beef burgers occasionally adding salt, pepper, chilly, ginger, garlic .......... a whole meal and I can never manage it with a bun  ;D

Tonight we have: Brown rice and kidney bean dish:

Soak brown rice or wild rice (whatever you like) in a bowl of cold water for 10mins.

Meanwhile chop onion, garlic and a red pepper.. fry in rapeseed oil ( or olive oil) and then add smoked paprika, cumin, salt, black pepper or whatever spices you like... maybe chilli if you want..

Saute for a few minutes...

Drain the rice and add to the pan along with passata tomato sauce or any tomato sauce you like...plus some veg stock, put on lid and simmer gently for 15-20 mins or until rice is cooked. Add drained kidney beans or again any beans you like.. chickpeas, etc..

Et voila . yum!
