Is the growth bleeding?  Irritating her?  It may be a skin 'tag'; ought or nowt.  Best get it checked.  Anaesthetics are so good these days and do opt for the blood test for kidney function if it's offered.  Is she generally well?

Pop some Savlon on it! ? ! and wipe off B4 the appt.. Takes away the dryness which may be causing itching.  If she is eating well, poos normal, poddling around OK - what colour is she?  I met a dark slate blue last week  :-*

They are such a worry aren't they? If only they could talk  :(  Hope you get reassurance from your vet.  If she is worrying it try folding a hand towel and wrapping it round her neck and taping it to stop her from worrying it.  Our dog suffers with hot spots and we do this to stop him biting them. You can also get doughnut style 'buster' collars, better than the old fashioned lampshade style that loop onto the dog's collar.

Thinking of you

Been using sudocream clkd seemed to be doing the trick but the scratching of it is making it worse, she is a red one the baby I never had means the world to us.
Good tip babyjane will try that the old lampshade ones are awful she had one of those years ago when she was spade

That's OK - what's good enough for babies ;-).

Red being dark fawn?  I've never met a bad staffie yet.

Here's hoping it's treatable - how did you get on at the vets?

My late Westie had a 'growth' removed, it turned out to be benign but it was a worrying time - he also developed fatty lumps as he got older - miss him so much  :'(

Baby jane I have a Westie looks just like yours , don't no how to upload photos. Re hotspots there's a very good pill called apoquel for skin and is really good , expensive.....Bertie also p lt has burns weight control which is bland re Westie skin and Touch wood this combination keeps his skin top rop.

Kazy 68 .....my Westie seems to rather enjoy getting grass seeds into his paws that require minor surgery , and his vet gives him a light anaesthetic ( doesn't even need to starve ) he is 14.4 years and this far has coped very well.

Good luck with your girl , these dogs / pets get right to our hearts and I no Bertie is in his winter years , but we need to pat ourselves on our backs for giving them long happy lives😊🐶

Oh Kazy I am so very sorry to hear this. Find comfort in the fact that you gave her an amazing life. You must allow yourself time to grieve properly too, you'll feel very raw for a good while yet.

Again, I'm so so sorry. Sending you love and hugs xxx

You did what any loving owner does: they go to the Vet. for advice.  Sometimes it's not what we want to hear  :'( - did you have it in the back of your mind?

"If it should be ........ "  I had my cocker cremated and scattered her ashes on what would have been her 14th birthday.  2002.  It does leave a HUGE gap  :sigh:

If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done,
For this -- the last battle -- can't be won.

You will be sad I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.

We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn't want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please, let me go.

Take me to where to my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me till the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you will agree
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.

Don't grieve that it must be you
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close -- we two -- these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.
