I know exactly what you mean cubagirl. I'm not one of life's worriers but city cycling is such a risky business that I worry that every journey will result in a phone call, if you know what I mean. Motorbikes scare the heck out of me so you have my sympathies there too.

I'm trying to lift 'well' but the pesky back is aggravated by anything nowadays x

Not just city cycling, Elizabethrose - my other half uses mostly back roads for his long commute & drivers on these routes often speed past far too fast & far too close.  I don't think they realise a cyclist may be pushed into their path by a pothole, a gust of wind or that their slipstream can be dangerously destabilising.  I think we could do with some public information films like we had years ago to help educate drivers who may not realise how vulnerable cyclists are.  I wait for the call that he's got to work safe every time he goes - he loves cycling (in all weathers) & nothing will persuade him to exchange it for a drive in situations where the bike can be used.

Wrensong, it's such a worry isn't it? Has he ever come off? I think hubby is pretty shocked by how he feels. He's never ill and even when he broke his leg skiing it didn't really stop him. Think tube escalators on crutches!! (Thus re-breaking it climbing on  a ladder!)  >:( However, he is completely unable to move without extraordinary effort and assistance. Just washed him which was no easy exercise. Poor man, I feel very sorry for him. Despite having a slave woman pandering to his every need, the pain is palpable. x

My sympathies to you both.  I can remember back to when our eldest son had a spiral fracture to tib and fib, it was a long road to recovery but he is fine now thanks to an excellent surgeon.

DH was knocked off his bike soon after we were married.  He also played it down but had to go to casualty the next day.  He had a broken collar bone and it is still not quite right to this day  :(

Yes Elizabethrose, OH was knocked off coming home from work by a young driver a few years ago.  Luckily only cuts & bruises, though the bike was a write off and needed months of insurance correspondence.  He's been a keen cyclist since childhood & has all the gear, but the issue of whether cycle helmets can do more harm than good in certain situations is hotly debated amongst the cycling community & he chooses not to wear one.  I don't know what to think about that, we've often had the conversation, but it's his body & he's more knowledgeable about cycling than me, so I accept his choice & no longer get involved!

This week has been difficult as I offered to visit with Mum who immediately gave me a list of problems her end, which sent me into a panic so appetite waned.  Took an emergency anti-anxiety tablet at 9.05 and am now at the stage of munching dried fruits and nuts with a cuppa to hand, have put off going 2 see her as planned tomorrow until Friday.  Her big problem hasn't gone away and is being made bigger because she hasn't anyone else to moan to  :-\ - so I may be away for a few days to keep her company.

Better thanks now we are home.  I couldn't eat due to crippling anxiety at the start of last week which caused severe depression - we managed a few days away to sort Mum's problems and I was OK >phew<

Lots of places to go but no time  ::) - what's wrong with UK Holidays Cazikins?
