Collagen
(1/1)
holidaylover:
I've posted previously regarding my horrid time with symptoms of tingling, etc. At the moment I'm having the most awful creeping, prickling in my legs (mostly thighs and buttocks). As the tingling goes on it turns into an itch, spreading to my whole body (ears, scalp, stomach, everywhere and I feel like I've got fleas. Anyway, I read somewhere this is probably due to low estrogen, which in turn depletes collagen. Just wondered if anyone has tried this as a supplement and if so, what were the results. I have some in the cupboard, which I bought thinking they would help with the wrinkles. What are folks thoughts? (I'm already taking a multi vit, omega 3, plus calcium/magnesium/d3.)
CLKD:
Probably better to have a chat with a Pharmacist? I know that the various itchy feelings can be due to a drop in oestrogen. A real nuisance!

CLKD, yes, it's a real nuisance!
Sparkle, was at GP last week, but she as good as no good! I wish I could go back to flushes again, as I found I could tolerate that more. They left and the tingles re appeared. I did read on another website (hyster sisters, it's called, for women going through early meno due to hysterectomy), and it seems to be very common on there. I haven't had a hysterectomy, but several ladies mention collagen being lost causing skin problems. I do have no admit that although I itch, it seems to be coming from the nerves prickling rather than an actual problem on the outside. They also mention Evening Primrose helped with this, which I have never tried either. May give this a go too. God Lord I'll be rattling! I get the twitches too, horrid isn't it. I go through periods of anxiety because of it when I think I have some deadly disease. (Tests all negative! but can't stop the worry at times)

Do you think this is something that eventually goes when the menopause is over (or whatever the term is)?

Bumping for holidaylover. It wasn't the last (sorry!) and this one really rings a bell. I have EDS (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome) type IV (vascular) and this is a genetic condition that impairs the production of collagen, so maybe it's all connected (no pun intended, collagen is the connective tissue main protein).
