Hello Babyjane, I hate my glasses, I've had them since I was 10, at 21 I went over to contacts had them for years hard, soft, gas perms, all of them caused problems and I finally threw in the towel 4 yrs ago. I now have varifocals, but I'm forever swapping between the pairs I have, luckily my prescription had hardly changed over the last 6 yrs (blind as a bat) my main prob is ... I hate anything touching my face, couldn't even have the veil over my face going in to my wedding 40 yrs ago, The tops and backs of my ears are very sensitive to the arms, and get very sore, the nose pads dig in to my nose, and I can "smell" the plastic of new ones for weeks and it drives me nuts. I am constantly cleaning them as I can see the frames and "glass" and the marks in it that the makers use for ref. My tolerance of them over my nose has worsened over the last 3 or 4 yrs, it doesn't help that my skin on my nose is so oily since meno struck, use to be really dry. My daughter in law has just had laser surgery as her script was worse than mine, but that is something I could never do... it took ages to even get up the courage to try contacts for the first time. There must be heaps of us out there that can't stand glasses, you're certainly not alone. PS I also hate my short legs, big nose and rubbish teeth.... pre meno they didn't worry me.... Grrr....
