Elleste Duo 1mg month 3...
« on: June 02, 2014, 03:22:52 PM »

I'm half way thru month 3 of Elleste Duo 1mg and it feels like they're not working as well as they were in month 1 & 2. I've had night sweats/low motivation/foggy brain again, albeit slightly.

Is it possible for one's body to get used to the dose and not use it effectively?  Should I request a higher dose or different form? Incidentally,  I havent had a bleed yet, but I did have an ablation 2 years ago so who knows if/when I will?!

Any likewise experiences??

Hi,
Oh gosh I was only on here yesterday extolling the virtues of this hrt. I'm coming to the end of month 4 and went on it for hot flushes, day and night. It took until the end of month 3 for my night sweats to completely go ...the daytime ones went sooner. So I'd had 3 weeks clear of night sweats until last night when they came back!!!! I was awake for some time and had about 3 I think ....it's rather upsetting and I'm wondering what tonight will bring. I'm now wondering the same...should I move onto Elleste 2mg. When I saw my GP at the end of month 3 they had almost gone and she gave me the choice of upping to 2mg then or wait and see if there was more improvement which is what I did. Presumably the risks increase with the higher dose. Does anyone know if the risks are much greater?
My first bleed came at the end of month 3 and just lasted a day X

Me too Flapsflo -  Elleste Duet 1mg (on month 2 at the mo).

I'm hoping I won't have to increase to 2mg when I go for my review, as oestrogen seems to have a slight anxiety inducing effect on me and I worry that if I start taking 2mg I'll be jumping outta my skin every 5 minutes! :o

As far as hot flushes and sleeping - both have improved so far (may it continue)

Flapsflo - is there any way you could change your Heading to include the word Elleste?   You might get more replies that way, as all the people taking Elleste wiill be more likely to click on the topic  :)

Good call Hotstff... have edited subject title to hopefully glean more experience/advice.
I too suffer from anxiety but thought it was made worse by oestrogen deficiency rather than too much. Elleste has definitely helped on that score for me. But, again, I have noticed a blip this month; hence this post. I also notice that towards the last 2/3 green tabs, my anxiety/mood/grrrr-ness gets worse.

Anybody else out there with Elleste Duo experience?
Ta x

I took 1mg for a couple of months, then switched to 2mg. Much much better. I am 42 and I guess maybe the younger you are the higher dose is better?

Not sure but I'd rather not have any symptoms if possible <vain and in denial> and 2mg does the trick for me :)

Second night of sweats back....really irritating just when I thought they had gone. Think I'll continue with the 1mg as I'm going on holiday in 2 weeks and don't want to increase to 2mg and have some side effects for my hols. It'll give me time to see what's going to happen. They're manageable though, nothing like they were 3 months ago, just annoying as I'm being kept awake again. I'm older than you Nina as I'm 57 and unsure about risks associated with the higher dose and age. Maybe if I need to my GP will prescribe the 2mg for a short time. Glad to hear your symptoms are much better. I'll see how I get on :-\

Choc 57 is still young!!  ;)

I felt better almost immediately on the 2mg.   Try it and see! You have to take the lowest dose to control your symptoms they say.

The green tablets make no difference to me, actually I think they make me sleep a little better. But yes to the increased short temperedness before a 'bleed' on the green tabs (very light incidentally) however I accept this as part and parcel of womanhood.  I've always had it even before menopause so it's no great shakes really :)

Oh thanks Nina...I'm still 22 in my head!!
That's great that you felt better so quickly. I've just made a separate post as I'm wondering whether to go for it before my holiday. When I saw my GP at the end of month 3 the sweats had almost gone but not quite and she offered me 2mg then but said if I waited I might see further improvement...and hey presto I did within a few days but I now feel I'm back to square one and there's no point taking hrt if it's not working.
I find too that I'm fine on the green tabs and yes the pmt is back slightly....just shouting at the cat... no sore boobs or anything else but no bleeds until last month and only for a day. :)

So what we're all saying is that if 1mg does the trick nearly, then its worth going up to 2mg. I wonder what the symptoms of too high a dose would be?
