Have a great time GD. I had to wait 24 years before hubby and I got away on our own......and I missed the kids  ;D. How sad is that.

Pool, cocktails, chilling. View right across bay from verandah. Lots of wildlife, waves crashing on shore below. Hotel really did make hubby's birthday special. Champers & cake on arrival. On the day, another bottle of champers & fresh fruit sent to the room. Meal at night,  they decorated our table & waiters sang Happy Birthday to hubby. Better than I could have hoped for really.

Had a lovely picnic by the river in Durham on Saturday.

Glad you had good time GD.

Dare I ask how you cracked your ankle Suzi? You have posted already, but in my dopey jet lagged state I marked messages as read, when I hadn't read them at all.  ??? Silly CG.

Oban was nice.  Busy.  We couldn't remember it at all (from 1991  ::) )
Area is lovely.  Cornish miles though  :D
Drove on Friday down S to a busy site (over 200 when full) a mile from the beach looking towards Dunstanburgh Ruins.  The only rain and that was in the night.  Visited Alnwick Gardens, town, drove round the area, walked to the beach and back; up to Berwick on Tweed; DH went trout fishing for half a day and caught tea  :-*
Home now ..........

Ooh lovely

We stayed at a campsite near Dunstanburgh in the VW when we went to Northumberland (5 years ago) - and walked to the ruins from the site - very atmospheric. We went to Alnwick castle too and another one - Bamburgh I think. I prefer the ruined ones though!
