Going to a cottage in Kirkudbright. It's a fishing village/artists place in south west Scotland. It's very pretty.......we were there many years ago. We have a place facing the castle.

The other is having her first holiday with "the boyfriend". They are going to Ambleside. We are all of on our travels.

Ambleside is lovely. Rydal Water close by is great to walk beside or above on the fells. Grasmere has a shop that is FULL of jigsaws - and the seller knows where each one is
…….. Grasmere has good ice cream too

Went online to check in for our Ryanair flight to Spain next Saturday only to find that unless you have paid for allocated seating, you can only check in online up to 7 days before rather than the old 15 days. As our holiday is 11 days we wouldn't be able to print boarding passes while we are away.
It seems that if you don't pay for allocated seats, you will be allocated a seat which may not be with your travelling companions. So we decided to pay the price which was £10 per seat per journey which has added £40 to our flights. There were £5 seats but they were over the wing which we don't like.
So feeling a bit ripped off at the moment as when I originally booked the flights this wasn't made clear

I had same problem with easy jet Ariadne. Had to pay at booking for a seat. Well hardly likely to stand am I. At least it was only for me, so doesn't matter where I sit. For long haul flight, airline asked for £25+ to book a seat in advance. We'll take our chances the day before our flight thank you very much!
Such a rip off, I agree.

Well now I'm wondering if our Ryanair flight to Spain on Saturday will be cancelled due to the French Air strike. It looks like the same flight was cancelled today and will be cancelled tomorrow too. The strike is supposed to go on until Sunday so not sure what to do.
It says that passengers will be notified by email if their flight is to be cancelled the next day. But what to do then? We also have airport parking and a hire car arranged.
Oh well, can't do much about it at the moment apart from worry
Anyone else affected?
