HB, Limpy and Cubagirl - many thanks for your advice.   Much appreciated.   :thankyou:

Yes, my dad has already booked wheelchair assistance, luckily.   And your suggestions on what to take really are helpful - I'll see what I can get on Monday.

I do agree about taking those things to the Trossachs!  There are midges with boots on, there!   Hope you have a lovely time, HB.

No.  It's for me to look after my dad while he shares some of his vast, lifelong knowledge of piano-playing with a group of interested piano students - and all for love, not for money.   I value the chance to be with him.

Whisky  :sick02: I blame my parents. Made me take a whisky toddy at around 5 years of age for bad cough & I threw it up. Got a smack for wasting good whisky!

dulciana that sounds like a very precious trip for you and your dad. What a lovely man he sounds.

I used to play the piano, I loved it but was not proficient enough to do a lot with it. I could not play by ear or sight read well enough to be spontaneous  :(

I am sure you cherish him every moment. I did not have a close relationship with my father - he was a father and provided but was not a dad, no emotional connection at all. Even to this day I feel I missed out, and he certainly did  :(

I sympathise with you, babyjane. I do realise how lucky I and my siblings are.  He's a gem.
