Honeybun - Plockton is lovely.  Hasn't altered for years++ …….. balmy weather like being abroad and there are plenty of eateries.  We stayed in a bungalow near Dornie ……. so we could explore the area  ;)

My kids are only joining us for a couple of days CLKD so Plockton is a bit far from me. We are about 35 north west of Glasgow so that would be a heck of a journey and a lot of it not main roads. I have been before so know the journey well  :o

Thinking of the Trossachs which are lovely. Loch Catrine or the Lake of Monteith. Such beautiful places and not too far at that time of year.

The Trossachs are very beautiful. So peaceful. Do they still do boat trips?

I'm back ladies :) Had a great restful break in Spain instead of our usual madcap mid day sun walks up mountains  ;D

Hubby had said he wanted to relax more and we did just that. We found we were both very tired and didn't wake up until just before 9am most days. Hubby usually gets up at dawn to go and take sunrise photos but not this time.

It was a really lovely break.

Back to work today to find I had forgotten to place some orders before I left which had caused some problems so spent all day trying to find out what else I had forgotten to order and panicking over it. Had a headache and wished I was back in Spain  ::)

I have just done something very spontaneous which is so not me.  I've booked a short break to Barcelona and we go on Wednesday next week.  We both need a break and the only time we get any peace now is to go away so I just did it.
Feel nervous now.  I actually have a phobia about going away but I have got to do something before life just passes me by .
Anyone been Barcelona - any tips??

Hubby worked there for quite a few years and he loves the city. Architecture is supposed to be wonderful.

Enjoy your break, you really deserve it.

Barcelona is great for seafood restaurants and architecture, especially the Sagrada Familia, but hang on to your handbag - the pickpockets are fast.

I usually hide my credit card in one bra cup and some notes in the other one. Makes for an interesting time when I pay for anything  ;D

That made me remember hubby having his briefcase stolen in a Barcelona hotel. Passport went with it. It was the day before Xmas Eve and I really didn't think he was going to get home.
Card inside your bra must be really uncomfortable as well as entertaining GD  ;D

I keep my hotel room card similarly, better than in bag beside the pool. I'm seriously considering buying one of those anti theft bags for holidays.

Loved Barcelona. I've been twice. Very true to watch out for pickpockets though.
There's a tourist bus which is hop on, hop off which we found the easiest way to see everything we wanted to (mostly Gaudi...Parc Guell is wonderful and don't miss the Sagrada Familia) - it runs on 2 lines.
If you want to eat veggie food, or just cheap wonderful food, try Teresa Carles in central Barca. We went there 3 days running for early lunch (they do gluten free too) and even OH was v impressed.
The sun will shine and you'll have a great time!

Not been to Barcelona but would like to go, well done Galadriel.

When concerned about security type things, I usually use a very small bum bag, well more of a pocket really, strapped round my middle. It's not big so doesn't show under tops.

Well done Groundhog.   We went to Barcelona about 3 years ago for 5 days.  Loved it.  As others have said, watch out for pickpockets especially on the metro. My OH was a victim, spent hours at the embassy getting a temporary passport.
Plenty of walking so take appropriate shoes.  Plenty of nice shops & restaurants.
Who are you flying with?
