M&S have a good range of socks. You will have to be quick though, the summer stock is coming in.

I'm sure they do ones with insulation.  No I'm not being funny here, think it's called thinsulate or something similar.

Found them on M&S they are thermal socks.  You can get them long or short.  If not try a climbing shop, hubby got some really good ones years ago.

Thinsulate is used for all types of clothing.  The walking socks are OK for wearing in boots but he wants something like leg warmers for evening wear  ::) - duvets for feet, now that appeals too  :o

OMG cubagirl, duvets for feet - yes please!  CKLD, I was thinking of getting some silk socks (there's a catalogue called Patra that does them).  They're a bit expensive but my old mum swears by them.

Silk is very warming but I can't stand the feel  ::) .......... silk is used for lining suits for those in very cold conditions .......

I actually wrap my feet in an old silk scarf of my mum's when it's very cold.It just seems to cocoon them in warmth, but not heavy or sweaty  :)

You can buy lambswool shoe insoles from shoe shops.  So if you get some thermal socks as well you should be OK.

Anyone know of good mohair or warm socks/leg warmers, Himself keeps complaining that his feet are cold  ::)

I knit socks and the yarn has a high percentage of wool and a smaller amount of nylon or polyamide for stength.  The ones I'm currently knitting are 75% virgin wool, 25% polyamide. My hubby and son say they are much much warmer than shop bought socks and they fit perfectly as I make them to fit their feet precisely.

The only other socks my hubby likes which are not made by my own fair hand  ;D are Alpaca socks - again these have nylon or similar in or they'd wear out very quickly.  Do you have a Spirit of the Andes shop near you?  That's where he gets them but you can also buy them at their online shop.

Hope this helps.

It certainly does help  :thankyou:  ......... it's reminded me that many years ago I would stand on a piece of insultation foil and cut out the shapes of my feet to put into the bottom of my wellies.  I tried to buy chilblain ointment this morning but Bts had sold out  >:(
