Hi I am new to the forum, thought I would join because I was feeling a bit down at the moment due to possible perimenopause symptoms.  I am 48. My cycle does seem to be getting shorter, I use to be around 26 days, then it's slowly gone down to 21 days.  The last few periods have taken a while to pitter out I'm heavy the first 3 days then seem to get lighter, then stop start and eventually stop around the 10th day.  But the last time I had a periods it went the same way pittering out, but then I have just continued to spot since!  I'm on my 23rd day and wondering if I will get a proper period this month or just continuing the odd spotting. I am also feeling very tired and weepy essecially first thing in the morning and feel so depressed and suffer from palpatations

Has anyone had simular symptoms

Hi and welcome welcomemm Sounds as if you are having a miserable time. Have you been to your GP to talk about how you are feeling. I am 49 and on HRT after 18 months of stop start periods hot flushes and terrible mood swings. Look around and do a bit of reading. Everyone is very helpful and you will get a lot of advice and a few laughs along the way. We all understand because we are all in the same boat.

Hi and welcome to the site I only joined a few weeks ago but feel better already just knowing I am not the only one suffering these awful symptoms.

Just to reassure you, your symptoms are almost identical to mine. I am 47 and have had shorter , stop/start cyles for about 2 years now. It is very disconcerting and sometimes I'm not sure whether it's the old period finishing or the new one starting!

Have also had terrible mood swings and my libido has taken a hike! I am tired, depressed and anxious all at the same time but some days are better than others. Have just started on 'serenity' natural progesterone cream and I have to say it is helping thank god.

There is plenty of help on this site, I have recommended it to so many friends and we are all feeling better just being able to share!

Take care

Hi Paranoid61

Welcome to the site - Just wanted to say "Enjoy the Forum".  I haven't had the dreaded monthly stuff since I was 27 (and I'm now 58) as I had to have a hysterectomy so all of that went out of the window ....... or in the incinerator !!

We're an interesting bunch here - enjoy looking around - it's hypnotic.

Hi westie, It's nice to get some reasurance telling me that your symptoms of stop/start periods were like I am getting. So did your period start heavy for a few days, then get lighter but then just continue spotting until your next period?  I am now on my 27th day and still spotting but not started another period properly as yet!  Undecided

Also when your doctor put you on Serenity natural Progesterone cream did you go through any tests before hand or did the doctor just go on the symptoms you were having?

Hi Paranoid, and welcome to the forum.  You will find lots of support and advise here.

Re the Serenity Cream - this is not something prescribed by the Dotor - you have to buy it.  If you google Serenity or Natural Progesterone Cream you will be able to find out about it.

Take care,
Yogini xxxx

Hello again paranoid

Yep, that was pretty much the score- period started heavy for 2/3 days, then stopped for couple of days then steady spotting until the next one arrived! Now I am just getting lighter periods of dark brown yukky stuff- which quite a few of the ladies on this site seem to get too.

Yogini is right, you don't get natural progesterone cream from the doctors I got it after reading up on it on the site and from ladies on here that have had some sucess with it. I had to do something- mood swings were getting horrendous and night sweats weren't a lot better. So far it has been great but have only been taking it for one cycle- will keep you posted.
