Lucky me the drug company say my reaction will be classed as 1 in a million. Great. Maybe my run down state and autoimmune disease made it worse. But I have found others who had a reaction to vitamin D.

It will have been one of the fluoroquinolones antibiotics Sparkle. It's a well known side effect but unless you read all of the advice on the patient leaflet it's not always apparent. I think that Nitrofurantoin is one of them and also Ciprofloxacillin. I get bad neck pain with both of these which is also related.

Does the medication cause muscle laxity or increase tension?

Sarai - Can I ask what dose you were given.  I have just been prescribed with 5 x 800 a day, so a total of 28000 a week.

Thanks Sparkle, I'm going to break them in gently.  Will take half the dose for a couple of days to see how I go.

Toffee cushion I was given 40000iu per week. I got side effects almost straight away but did not connect them for too long.

I'm really worried about taking my tablets.  I'm supposed to be taking 5 a day and have been putting of off.  I know I have to take them and this morning have taken 1.  Will take 2 tomorrow if I feel ok today.  Does anyone worry constantly about side effects?

This might be helpful toffeecushion. Your dose is not excessively high if you are deficient. You  need extra to top your levels up before you can drop down to the usual amount as a maintenance dose. http://www.betterbones.com/bonenutrition/vitamin-d/recommendations-concerns.aspx

Sparkle - yes I also had the back of the heel pain but didn't connect it with the antibiotic until afterwards!

I've taken 2 tablets this morning, so pleased with myself.  I absolutely hate taking anything, I won't even taken a paracetamol for a headache unless I am desperate.  Mind you I am looking for any signs of something being wrong and I think the anxiety associated with taking the tablets is causing a few symptoms.  But keep telling myself it is anxiety and not the tablets.

To be honest I doubt I will work up to the full 5 tablets.  But I will take 2 for another couple of days and then try 3 on Wednesday (maybe :)).  Some are better than none.
