Hopefully help is on the way
« on: April 19, 2014, 11:19:35 AM »

So last Saturday I posted my first post and it was very desperate. In the meantime, I have had a lousy week, back to see the urologist who has given me more anti-biotics for a UTI and also recommended a trans-vaginal scan. That showed a small abnormality on my left ovary which led to me being referred to a gynaecologist.

Eureka!! I have just seen a lovely man who said I have a very small ovarian cyst and he would like me to have a further scan just to make sure everything is fine but he doesn't think it is anything to worry about. He examined me and said the skin of my vagina is a bit thin as he would expect on a woman of my age (56). There was also a small amount of thrush present (not surprising after all the anti-biotics).

However, he said that ALL my other symtoms are menopause-related. He has prescribed Elleste Duet 2 mg and Vagifem and is fairly confident that I should feel a lot better in 2-3 weeks.

I have also had some blood tests done and need to go back and see him in 2 weeks. I feel so much more positive!

It's so good to hear something positive about the medical profession.
Good luck for 2 weeks time.

Thank you Ju Ju and Limpy. I'll let you know how I get on. Who knew the menopause could be so ghastly.....

The gynaecologist I saw was a menopause specialist. I said 'Are you sure all these symptoms are menopause-related?' and he said 'Absolutely!'

Hopefully I can regain some control over my life!

Hi Judith57

Sounds like a great guy! How wonderful that you have been to see a knowledgeable menopause specialist who fully understands the menopause and is happy to prescribe HRT. May I ask were you referred to the specialist (gynae) by your GP practice?

I hope you begin to feel better very soon!
