We didn't have our holiday this year as our daughter got married so funds were short. I will look out for the 2015 holiday thread as we have booked for the South Coast (we don't go abroad).

I have booked us an autumn holiday in the Trossachs for our 30th anniversary. Can't wait.

I think mid November. Somewhere totally relaxing, sunny and where there's decent medical help in case OH gets another one of his bizarre allergic reactions to something!
We thought of South Africa if can find an affordable fare, as we can stay there for nothing and car hire is cheap. But November can be dicey, or can be 23- 24 degrees and sunny, which would be lovely.
Long haul though.

Are Crete and Rhodes a bit wintry or rainy then? I don't know if OH would find enough to do in the Canaries? We love the sun, sitting at cafes, seeing beautiful or interesting places etc.

My Plan is - travel up to the Paisley area in the camper and book into a Hotel.  Visit a friend of my late father's who loved his camper van.  Couple of days there then head across to a camp site so that we can visit Edinburgh  ;) - got to get DH on board he wants to go fishing with his brother  >:(  ..........  :o I mean  :) ....... which means I won't get away to where I want to go.

honeybun I was taken to the Trossachs when I was 16 for a holiday with my parents (the only one we ever had) I kept a diary and still have it, with picture postcards. It was very beautiful. We stayed in Callender and went out each day from there.

Thanks littleminnie, I thought so.  Pity it's not mid October as that could be lovely. Not his choice though.

Please don't stay in Paisley CLKD. It's really not nice. If you tell me what area you are thinking of then I will give you the info. Paisley is a deprived area but there are loads of places in the general area....especially near me that are within travelling distance...and are lovely.

Hmmm Glasgow. You would need a week or more. Kelvingrove Art Gallery is beautiful. The Transport Museum. Glasgow Uni....You can go in the church but just a walk along University Avenue is lovely. Kelvingrove Park. The Burrell Collection. The Bonatic Garden.

For lunch ...Princess Square...unique. Depends on what you are looking for.
Edinburgh....The Royal Mile....The Castle..The Parliament.

Babyjane.
We are staying in an 18th century farm house between Aberfoyle and Callender. It's not that far from us maybe a couple of hours drive so suits me fine. We can't go that far from home because mum is frail and I need to be close at hand. It's a lovely place and I'm hoping for some Autumn colours.

Luss is lovely as is Balloch and Drymen. The roads up the side of the loch to Rowardennan are challenging to say the least..
Avoid Erskine it's very industrial as is Dumbarton.

Def more Luss /Balloch area is nicer CLKD.  Used to live in that area when I was young, dad used to teach kids how to row in his spare time so we literally grew up at the side of the loch watching them out on the rowing boats.

Old sheep, cyprus should still be nice at that time of year, Paphos has a cafe bar culture and restaurants, cultural things to do as well. We like visiting the old town of paphos, although the harbour area is lovely.  Plenty of walking or buses avail to other parts of the island.

Difficult trying to decide isnt it.
