How's your Husband Jillymoo?
CLKD:
Any update?
Jillymoo:
Thanks for asking CLKD :)
When we saw the Rheumatologist this morning he ordered 7 xrays (spine, pelvis, neck) and 5 blood tests (didn't say what for but I noticed one was for ECR which looks for inflammation I believe).
The xrays were back on his computer as soon as we arrived back at his consulting room and he was able to tell us that there was no sign of any structural damage/alteration in any of the bones. In fact, all entirely normal, nothing to see. . . . .so that was reassuring. We are going back in a week for the results of the bloods, and he gave husb a steroid injection in his buttock. He did say that it might take 24-48 hours to kick in but it seems to have brought him some relief already. He's sitting here with his legs crossed and his arm nonchalantly up behind his head as he chats on his phone. . . . movement that would have been impossible this morning! I'm hoping he (and therefore me too) can get some sleep tonight. We're both so tired :(
Both today and at yesterday's appointments,I was so tempted to ask about the PMR,but it seemed a bit crass.Medics must get so fed up of folk querying their diagnosis because they've been on t'internet ::)
I was a bit nervous that OH would be really upset if we saw patients waiting to see the Consultant who were in wheelchairs/wearing neck braces/walking with sticks etc., and had a vision of what the future may hold for him.Fortunately, everyone we saw seemed quite mobile.
So. . . .now we have to start thinking about the prep for his colonoscopy on Friday.I feel sorry for him because it's been one thing after another lately. His mother had a stroke a month ago,he had to have a mole removed in March ( all ok with that though, thankfully),so he's been through the mill but that's how it goes sometimes eh?
And of course, especially remembering some of the lovely people on here,it's nothing compared to what some are going through.
Will let you know how we get on with 'our' next two appointments, and thanks again for asking :-*

OK so others are 'suffering' but this is your problem. Not only do you have to know when and how much support to give, you have to watch as his struggles with the various appts.. Shortly after Himself retired last year - he had to go to the GP for several minor irritations: never having been to the Surgery much during the previous 30 years ::). He's mentioned a sore spot on his tongue this evening and of course, my mind is into over-drive ......... >:(
ESR tells a lot about how the patient is including being an old pregnancy test ;)
Keep us up to date onceyou have some results!
:foryou:
Suzi Q:
I must say to you YOUR PAIN IS JUST THAT YOUR PAIN
We can give our love to others that are in a bad way and would love to help
But when we are sick or someone we love our pain is we ourselves are no less important OK
It doesnt make us bad cos we feel crappy even though we know we are in a far better place than others get it?
My MUM had saying when Dad would say to her YOMA theres people worse off than you
Shed reply OK Jack go get them and bring them to me and let me have a bloody good laugh
When we are in pain we too need to feel crapy with out feeling guilty OK xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Well, husband had his colonoscopy this morning and all went really well (phew!)
I was incredibly nervous for him but he was quite calm and collected.I tried to act the same because I didn't want to worry him,but he said that the procedure itself was no problem. He opted for sedation and said he felt nothing other than the initial 'insertion' of the scope. . . . wasn't aware of it going any further or being removed.I don't know whether he was just lucky or whether the sedative worked extra well on him.He did say that the room spun for a minute when they first injected him. . . .
Anyway, the doc came to speak to him when he'd come round in Recovery and was having tea and biscuits, and said that all appeared absolutely fine. They had taken two biopsies for 'routine tests'(which they mentioned would be done when the nurse filled in the paperwork beforehand),but no sign of anything of concern on the pictures from the scope itself :)
And. . . . he said exactly as so many others have......the prep was a hundred times worse than the actual exam.He said that the Kleen Bowel (or whatever it was called) was like drinking oily, stagnant water! :sick02:
It's my birthday today so we were able to go out for a nice lunch a couple of hours later, and he's absolutely fine now.
