Low Oestrogen
Cazzyb:
Hi, I have introduced myself on the forum in the newbie section.
There are some ?'s I have so if anyone knows the answers, please help.
Is oestrogen /estradil the same thing?
I only had estradil hormone checked, showed I had low oestrogen levels,I have to have it tested again in September. What other test should I expect my gp to do? To say if I am going through a premature menopause/ something?
Will I need to take ostrogen hrt because of my age? Someone I know had low oestrogen @17 & was give hrt cream. They also suggested the contraceptive pill but I have had v.high BP in past, now controlled by tablets.
Also concerned about Oestoporosis as I have limited mobility, I also have a chronic illness that makes me more suscepitable to it. Plus my Auntie (my Mum's sister) has it. I do take Adcal (calcium & vitamin d) as I am lacking in vitamin D.
I have not had a period since 4/2. The two cycles before that were 58 & 19 days & both lasted 2days.
I have lost 3 stone since November due to my gallbladder not functioning I had it removed 2 &1/2 weeks ago. My periods have been becoming more erratic & scanty since the beginning of last year though.
I am also having meno style symptoms incl, tearfullness, aching & stiff joints, urine urgency & night sweats .
Any help, advice, or reassurance v.welcome. Plus if there is any thing I should I ask/tell my gp.
Also last bit what should a normal level of Ostrogen be. I don't know what mine is.
Thanks for any help.

:welcomemm: my periods became scatty during the last 2-3 years until they stopped completely.
Blood tests are notoriously un-reliable. Hormone levels alter all the while throughout 24/7 so getting a 'true' reading is difficult. Urine urgency can be a side-effect of being peri-meno! >:( and your other symptoms are probably 'within normal limits' for this stage of your Life. Have a read of the menu on the left of screen.
How limited is your mobility? Is it possible to see a physio for gentle exercise education? [Are you in the UK?]. Getting out to sit in the sun will help raise your VitD levels too. If ever we get any :-\ ........ the Osteoporosis Society web-site is very good too.
Is there a 'normal' level of oestrogen at any time of our lives?
We have a funny room too when you need a giggle ;)

It sounds hormonal >:( I'm sorry to hear about all your health problems.
Could you get referred to a gynae or meno clinic? AFAIK low oestrogen blood tests are more reliable as a general indicator if you aren't on any HRT.
I wish you all the best

What's AFAIK?
