Mirena problem?
lizzog:
Had my Mirena put in at end of Jan and after a lot of cramping and bleeding thing seemed to settle. I am still bleeding slightly, but seem to have swapped the pre-Mirena gushing for cramping,
This morning I woke up feeling really sick, with a horrible pain in my left hip. This was followed by cramping and bleeding. I took two Feminax and things have improved, but my hip still feels painful. This was one of my very first peri symptoms, which disappeared on HRT. I'm still on HRT but it seems to be making an annoying comeback.
Any ladies on here with the Mirena, I would be really grateful if you would let me know if you've had similar problems, especially if they are still after six months? I don't know whether to persevere still, or whether to get the blasted thing removed :'(.

I would speak to your Practice Nurse. You may need an addition by mouth to 'top up' the coil ? I hate this constant worry that some ladies have, background problems which niggle along then develop into something else >:( - life is too short to be phaffing at an age when we should be out enjoying ourselves :-\

I really couldn't agree more. I've had six years of it now and really would like to think that I could be one of the lucky ones that suits Mirena, especially as I have had a horrible gynae past with secondary infertility, IVF and all the gruesome tests etc that involves :(.
The Mirena seems to be one of those things that seems to provoke strong reactions in people- they either seem to love it or hate it, but most people I know seem to either have had a bad time with it, or certainly know someone who has......
CLKD:
You could do a search here for mirena coil and see what threads come up [sorry not meant to be a pun ::) ]

Hi Lizzog
I have had 2 mirena coils prior to menopause with absolutely no problems except after 4 years on the second one when my body seemed to want it out.
I had one fitted a year ago as the progesterone part of HRT. I have felt fine since and have not added oestrogen yet.
I have hip, back and thigh pain - on or off the mirena coil - but I also have fibromyalgia. Hormones are a delicate balance and operate as part of the whole body system not in isolation. Perhaps you need to visit the doctor or nurse and discuss your concerns - and at least put your mind at ease.
Good luck.
