Have to stop taking Femoston Conti!
Bette:
I'd agree with the others that stopping completely seems a bit of an over-reaction. It wouldn't hurt to have a scan to check the thickness of your womb lining; appointments for those usually come within 2 weeks. I don't see why you shouldn't wait till then before stopping HRT. ???
I'm on Femoston sequi and have had spotting problems. Both my gp (who is very HRT-savvy) think that it's hormone imbalance but agreed that a scan would be a good idea. Meanwhile, I came off the mini-pill to see if that was a factor. The scan was clear and the spotting has stopped, so I suspect the extra prog. is the culprit in my case. I'm seeing the gp on Tues to discuss what to do now.
I see no reason why you shouldn't be on conti HRT but some ladies who have bleeding issues do prefer to change to a sequi product so that the bleeds are at least predictable.
Obviously, you need to listen to medics advice but with HRT, I think that you also have to research for yourself and weigh up the pros and cons. So often, the personal opinion/knowledge of the medic seems to affect their advice, which is not good. My gp, who is pro-HRT, was careful to refer me herself for the scan rather than send me to a gynae and said that if I needed the next investigation (hysteroscopy) there was a certain consultant she would refer me to for that and I think it was because she didn't want me to be faced by an anti-HRT medic who would tell me to stop the HRT without considering all other possibilities.

What a coincidence as I was going to post a separate thread/question about this but as it's related to the same problem and same HRT I thought to add to this thread.
I have also been on Femoston Conti now for three months and am now on my second bleed which is 23 days after the first.
The first bleed I had wasn't too heavy but this second one is now going on for 10 days!
I have to say I have been very happy on the HRT and almost immediately felt really well. Hot flushes/night sweats are all gone.
However, I also have had a bout of thrush recently and have a lot of thrush episodes in the past year.
I am just hoping this bleed stops soon!

Hi Londongirl
I'm now on my third bleed in five months and I've now stopped the hrt about 1 week ago. My GP has referred me and I now have to have a Transvaginal Scan (think thats it!) next week just to check everything is ok. Today I had some blood tests to check for things like Diabetes and Thyroid problems due to the episodes of Thrush, she also prescribed me 3 separate tablets of Fluconazole in case of any recurring episodes of Thrush.
I think her main concern was that my normal periods hadn't yet finished (although I've been 17 months without) and you shouldn't be taking a continous hrt if you are still having periods. Once the results are through and everything is hopefully ok then I can go ahead and start on hrt again, but obviously it will have to be a different kind next time. My GP said that you should not be bleeding on a conti hrt so it might be advisable to have a chat with your GP.
Hope the bleed comes to an end soon.

Thanks Susan for clearing this up - I am just finding it all so confusing!
I'm hoping to try the patches next time around although when I last tried I found that they wouldn't stick properly and kept falling off!

What's happening with you then Jasmine?
I am still spotting, since March 22nd!
I did go and see my GP last week and she said to wait a bit longer to see if things settle down. The day I saw her I told her it had stopped as it had, but it started again the next day and that's how it is, very small occasional spotting!
I do feel good on the HRT though, although like you I am getting episodes of thrush and the wheezing now and then with occasional sore throat.
I had these latter symptons before HRT though, particularly thrush.
I will not come off HRT though, no way, as I am still feeling better then before!
