Restless Leg Syndrome
CLKD:
Lack of sodium/salt can cause cramps, fainting, dizzyness - M in L had enormous problems when her GP told her to eat less salt, she became practically immobile and would faint before getting out of bed. It was months before: with prodding from us: to get her to ask the GP for a test ........ we was right >:( - she could have been saved 2 years of discomfort and distress :cuss:

If magnesium is part of the 'salts' family perhaps that's why it alleviates the cramps and helps with restless legs?
Good Magnesium flakes are created from the sea. I use sea salt for cooking with and eating food.
I hope it helps PN. Please be aware that it can take quite a long time to resolve the problem. Apparently, our magnesium levels are often much lower than we realise we need and it takes time to build them back up.
All I know is I had cramps and restless legs. I used magnesium spray and either magnesium baths, footbaths or Dead Sea minerals with magnesium and the cramps, restless legs and sore hips in bed went away. I stopped or reduced drastically because it does dry your skin (warning, increase moisturiser) and found they are coming back just recently.
So, back to the magnesium.
I have mentione before, but will mention again, the book Transdermal Magnesium Therapy by Dr. Marcus Sirus is most definitely worth reading - amazing how magnesium or lack of it affects many illnesses and disease.

Thanks FW, a recent blood test showed my madnesium level to be high, so I am not sure if I should add more then? Vitamin D was very low, so Dr has prescribed tablets for a month.
It is all so confusing and I just would like to be pain free!

If your magnesium levels are high, then perhaps it will not suit you to use the spray.
I take Vitamin D drops. Mum was also los and took the tablets for a month.
We both swapped to Better You vitamin D spray (measured spray - one a day into the mouth - with a pleasant mint taste). I know low levels of Vitamin D can cause muscle weakness and pain.
And no, I am not anythng to do with Better You ;D. It just happens to be a reasonably priced, good quality range for what I need.
I did read an article on RLS some time ago which referred to the person frequently having low iron - have you had that checked?
There was also a list of drugs which can exacerbate the problem. There was a working group in the States researching RLS and possible solutions. At one point, they were also researchng the link between blood pressure and RLS but I do not know what the results were.
Sorry I cannot be much more help PN. I hope the Vitamin D does the trick. Perhaps you can do some research on the othe factors causing RLS. The magnesium works for me fortunately.
